As a newcomer, I've been scanning the old logs and I came across one I
     can answer:

     >> I'm looking for 'official' UWP data for the Aldeberan sector
     (rimward of the
Solomani Rim). I haven't been able to loacate anything in the
archives, and I'm not really sure if it exists.

Does anyone know of a UWP file for the Aldeberan sector? It's
no great hassle if not, I'll knock one up myself...

     Thanx

Michael, if you haven't found them by now, or if I missed a post
announcing where you can find them, the Aldebaran stats are available
in Genie's gaming section. If you'd like, I can e-mail them directly
to you or put them up here. Let me know either which way.

Given this, I think that it's funny that STRIKER II includes many of the
things
(IMHO) that were missing from the first edition ie TO+Es for the Zhos, Imps
etc,
varied example vehicles and scenarios. (Of course they did rip the heart out
of it
by creating the FF+S product butit's a farly logical choice to make it
seperately
available). At least they didn't try to sell it to us twice like the design
rules in
BL + FF+S.

I hope that nobody takes this to be a criticism of STRIKER I (which I love).

I agree that it can turn out this way, especially if the published background
is
accepted as rote. However, I think that the possibilities for ethical
dilemmas
for players is still there in the New Era, it's just that we haven't seen
much
that blemishes the RCES reputation (was it Operation Cosmic Fire that was
criticised in the RC news?). Here are some ideas of how to prevent the game
from
being one of black and white issues:

1/ Set up a campaign with the players as Guild members, but who believe that
they are in the right, doing the only thing possible to keep interstellar
commerce alive.

2/Have the characters subordinate to an RCES officer who is a brutal and
vicious tyrant. Should they stage a mutiny? After all, he gets the job done.

3/Would it be correct to dispose a popular and benevolent dictator merely
because he is a xenophobe, and the RC needs the world as a staging post?

4/Have rumours reach the players of nuclear weapons being used in some RC
strike
missions. Should they interfere, or just keep on getting the job done? Is
rebuilding civilisation more important than a hundred lives, or a thousand,
or
even a million?

These ideas could really shake character's beliefs, particularly if they had
previously felt that everything was just black and white.

I have submitted a new striker II campaign into the traveller web pages.
It 's not perfect, but I think it provides a enjoyable game. Please feel
free
to send me questions...
